Effective management is a primary objective for leaders across the
globe.Better leadership helps build stronger communities, businesses and
organizations.Management principles serve as guidelines for the decisions and
actions of leaders that help them function on a daily basis. Without guiding
principles, leaders can quickly become disconnected from the organization’s
vision and mission. There are 3
effective management techniques that can support the changing landscape of both
local and global organization, they are ethical leadership, strategic vision
and trust.

Ethical business
behavior is an essential leadership responsibility. In
business, ethics are the values, morals and principles that an organization and
its leaders use to govern business practices, actions and behaviors. Because we live in a
world of diverse cultures, business practices can vary greatly depending on
country, region or customs. In addition, everyone in an organization will not
hold the same beliefs, integrity or level of loyalty and conscientiousness with
regard to business practices. It is imperative that leaders employ the ethical business principles
defined by their organizational management. These principles should enable
leaders to act responsibly and with integrity, respect, dependability, and
transparency. Establishing the management principle of ethical leadership
identifies an organization to its employees, stakeholders, customers, and
prospective clients as a business that offers trustworthiness, competency,
reliability, and security. People feel confident working for and doing business
with leaders who value ethical behavior as a consistent priority.
Strategic vision links
the current position of your organization with its future. It has often been compared to a roadmap for a journey. Without a
roadmap, the organization can get lost, accidentally take detours, or end up in
a completely different place than it planned to go. A strategic vision
outlines the path to the goal. Even if your team must make a detour at some
point, a strategic vision will serve as the consistent definition of the
initial goals, so that you and your team can consider alternate routes but
still achieve the desired results.Creating a clear vision for your organization
is an important first step for communicating organizational goals. It is a
leader’s role to craft a clear, simple and memorable vision as well as a
roadmap to achieving it, so that everyone in the organization can understand and
follow.
Trust affects everyone involved in the organizational relationship. Leader
must consistently build trust as a guiding principle of management. It is imperative for leaders to assess how their personal behaviors
establish trust among those they lead. Employees must see leaders as
authentically reliable, dependable and respectful in order to consider them
trustworthy.Building, nurturing and maintaining trust in all organizational
relationships is essential as a guiding management principle. When leaders
establish trust, they foster more authentic communication and loyalty among
team members, colleagues, stakeholders, customers, followers. It takes time and
intention to build trust; but one untrustworthy behavior can diminish or
destroy organizational relationships.
In conclusion, with these 3 principles of effective management
guiding you, you will raise the standard of leadership in your organization and
inspire those around you to lead ethically, clearly, trusted, and with a focus
on achievement.Businesses that deliver fast-to-market products may establish
management principles around innovation. And while the management principles in
organization may evolve over time, most organizations are built upon a
foundational set of management principles that steer organizational growth and
effectiveness.

The Importance of English Language in Information Systems

English is the dominant business and academic language
and it has become almost a necessity for people to speak English if they are to
enter a global workforce. Even research from all over the world shows that
cross-border business communication is most often conducted in English—which
means being knowledgeable in English will make one to be more resourceful.
Learning English can change our life because its importance in the global
market place is unquestionable. Basically, language and the way we use words
conveys intelligence and authority. It’s no wonder why people who have strong
English vocabulary receive more attention and respect from their partners,
colleagues, subordinates and authority figures. Anyone who are genius in
particular field may be highly respected for their technical skills, but if
they couldn’t properly communicate what they meant, it will surely affect their
social skill which is equally important as technical skill. In short, it might
communicate a lack of intelligence.
A number of studies have consistently showed that people
who have advanced knowledge of English language are much likely to advance in
their careers or academics. Those with a strong command of the English language
will lead to higher pay (for workers) and better understanding of something
(for students). The world is changing rapidly, globalization is one of the
reason that could bring that change. Even though there are still pros and cons,
it’s better for us to be prepared otherwise we can get left behind. Although it
is not possible that other language might take over English as the
international language, there are still many of the world’s most powerful
corporations are based in English-speaking countries such as United States and
Great Britain. That being said, there is still a high demand for people in
foreign countries who can speak English.
English is important to information systems for various
reasons. The field of information systems bridges business and computer
science. English is the international language of trade currently, and so the
two are interlinked in terms of being able to operate many systems—and since
many programs are produced or made in English-speaking countries, it is
essential for people to understand English language. With companies have
increased their hiring standards and found ways to cut costs by bringing
immigrants into the country on work visas, we will need to master English
language as a prime tool of communication at collaborative workplace. That’s
the importance of English in Information Systems work field.
As in academic field, having proper English skill can
make students have better access to information. Since a vast majority of
information on the internet is in English. What is more, the commands for many
programs are in English, and so a program might now respond to other language
commands unless it was specifically reprogrammed to understand those languages.
Most IS products are first created with English interface or user
communicattion and then upgraded with other language support. Even if the user
is able to use a program in another language, at the base level it may be
programmed in English.

Connector dan Conjuction dalam Bahasa inggris mempunyai arti yang sama,
yaitu kata penghubung atau kata sambung. Namun, penggunaannya berbeda. Contoh
kalimat conjunction digunakan dalam dua kata,
dua klausa, atau dua kalimat yang digabungkan menjadi satu. Atau dalam Bahasa
Indonesia, conjunction membentuk kalimat majemuk.
Sedangkan connector tidak selalu menghubungkan dua kalimat menjadi satu.
Kalimat yang dihubungankannya dapat dipisah. Kalimat yang dihubungkan dengan
connector tersebut dapat bersamaan arti atau mempunyai arti yang saling
berlawanan. Berikut ini adalah pembahasan tentang penggunaan connector
dalam Bahasa Inggris.
Kata yang Termasuk Connector
Sesuai dengan judul artikel kita kali ini, maka khusus akan membahas
tentang connector. Kata-kata yang termasuk connector atau Conjunction (Kata Sambung) adalah di bawah ini :

For / Because / since
For dan since sebagai connector mempunyai arti karena. Kata ini biasanya
diikuti dengan kalimat yang menjadi alasan kalimat sebelumnya. Artinya
sama hanya berbeda penggunaan pada contoh
kalimat conjunction because.
Contoh Kalimat:
- He came late to our meeting this afternoon because there is an unexpected traffic. (Ia datang terlambat karena
macet.)
- She resigned from her job since
her salary has not been paid for 3 months. (Dia berhenti dari pekerjaannya
karena sudah tidak digaji sejak 3 bulan lalu)
- He came late to school this morning for he saw the accident (Ia datang
terlambat ke sekolah pagi ini karena ia melihat kecelakaan.)

And
And artinya dan. And biasanya digunakan dalam kalimat yang menunjukkan
hubungan penambahan kalimat sebelumnya. Atau sesuatu yang dilakukan setelah
kalimat pertama.
Contoh Kalimat:
- My daughter saw me with her idol and she was really surprised. (Anak saya
melihat saya dengan idolanya dan dia sangat terkejut)
- There are two apples and three oranges on the table (ada dua apel dan dua
jeruk di atas meja). Perhatikan bahwa and tidak menyambungkan dua kalimat. And
di sini merupakan kata sambung conjunction bukan connector.

Nor
Nor dapat berarti tidak juga atau dan tidak. Kalimat pertama sebelum kata
nor biasanya merupakan kalimat negatif.
But. But mempunyai tetapi atau menunjukkan dua kalimat yang bertentangan. Dalam penggunaannya, kalimat kedua atau setelah kata but adalah kalimat yang betentangan dengan kalimat pertama.

Yet mempunyai arti meskipun. Mirip dengan kata but atau tetapi dlam
penggunaannya. Yet juga dapat berarti nevertheless.
Contoh Kalimat:

She doesn’t have a lot of money yet she is very generous to people in
need.

So / now that
So berarti jadi, atau oleh karena itu atau sehingga. Sama artinya dengan
now that. Kalimat yang mengikuti kata ini adalah akibat atau konsekuensi dari
kalimat pertama.
Contoh Kalimat:

I only get to see my children
twice a year now that they’re gone for college.

Or
Or berarti atau. Dua kalimat yang dihubungkan dengan kata atau biasanya
mempunyai arti semakna atau sederajat.
Contoh Kalimat :
- What do you prefer to stay in home or travel on this holiday? (Apa yang
kamu pilih, diam di rumah atau berjalan-jalan di liburan ini?)

Bahasa Inggris
Pola kalimat yang digunakan dan dihubungkan dengan connector, tidak perbeda
dengan pola kalimat Bahasa Inggris umumnya, yaitu
Subject + Predikat (verb)+ Objek Connector Subject + Predikat (Verb) + Objek
Subject + Predikat (verb)+ Objek Connector Subject + Predikat (Verb) + Objek
Dengan demikian penggunaan contoh 16
tense English, penggunaan pronoun
antecedent agreement, kata ganti, daftar
kata irregular verb dan sebagainya sama dengan aturan
kalimat lain. Tidak ada pola khusus yang digunakan.
